Germany and Togo reset the cooperation button

Togo - Diplomatie
Several public officials and private sector leaders from Germany are visiting the Republic of Togo from April 3rd to 6th. Bundestag vice president Johannes Singhammer clearly assured togolese authorities that, from now on, things would never be the same. He pointed out the importance of both Bundestag senators and business leaders presence as a necessity to quickly reset the cooperation button. "It is the Bundestag that crafts the budget, determines the volume and to which country projects funding will be allocated. A partnership to publicly fund private investments is a good thing for growth and development" Johannes said. In response, togolese government authorities made a case by reiterating the country's continuous effort to reform business environment in order to attract investors. Mr Robert Dussey, foreign affairs minister of Togo, spoke on behalf of the government, acknowledging the economical and financial power of Germany, and further more, a historical friend since colonization time. Robert Dussey reaffirmed that, investing in Togo is investing in the Ecowas region, with over 350 millions people.

The german delegation visited the historical palace under renovation in Lome, and later on, paid a visite to togolese Parliament meeting in Kara (a city in north of Togo). There, the Bundestag vice president Johannes Singhammer spoke boldly, assuring the audience that more and more German businesses are willing to invest in Togo, and this public private partnership shall be a win win gain to either side. Johannes appreciated the Parliament meeting been held in Kara, in an attempt of togolese lawmakers trying to get closer to constituents, a view also shared by togolese elected officials such as opposition leader professor Aime Gogue of Dapango (city farthest north- border Togo Burkina ).
